Last Minute Wonder

A few weeks ago I was invited to a party on a Friday night. Unfortunately, I was so busy that week that I forgot to organise my own outfit! Luckily, the fabulous ladies at Lalabazaar were SUPER AMAZING and helped me out. I am so grateful to them for their incredible service - they pulled out all the stops to help me get this stunning Cameo Star of Wonder dress on time. Ladies, I highly recommend Lalabazaar.com, you have to check them out.

FYI: I purchased this dress, it was not a gift.

The dress itself is a statement piece, so I kept the accessories simple - white strappy heels, some white and gold jewels, and a gold glitter clutch.

So back to that Friday night, I'm happy to say my outfit was a success and I danced the night away! Unfortunately, I was unable to post photos of the night on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as my phone was stolen that night just before I went home. Sad yes, but no worries, I have another now. So here's a mini shoot of my outfit (minus the clutch) plus a pair of sunnies to prevent me from squinting on this super sunny day.

Styling Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are a great pair of jeans that are on trend and can be worn casual or dressed up. The loose fit makes them so comfortable to wear all day, you'll forget you're wearing jeans.

It's easy to style your boyfriend jeans so that they match your own style personality. Just wear what you'd wear with your regular jeans. For a casual outfit add a pair of flats and a jumper/sweater. Don't be afraid to slip on a pair of heels with your boyfriend jeans, this'll liven up a casual look and elongate your legs.

If you find your boyfriend jeans so comfy you want to wear them into the night, dress them up by adding a pair of heels and a cute top and/or blazer, and some funky accessories.

Today I decided to mix neutrals with metallic, so I laid out a casual outfit that I've spiced up with my favourite pair of Givenchy heels that I bought a few years ago. The top in this outfit features detailed shell embellishments, so I haven't accessorised with a necklace because I don't want to overload my casual outfit.

The gold puzzle rings and tortoise shell sunglasses polish off the look.

Gold Rings

Gold rings are everywhere right now - in stores, in magazines, all over the internet, on bloggers... Gold bling is in. I love bling, especially gold bling. And that makes me pretty excited that gold rings in every shape and weight are in fashion right now.

From elegant slim gold bands to statement gold rings in bold shapes, all gold rings are currently trending. With so many styles and sizes to choose from, we're all sure to find the perfect gold rings to match each one of our individual wardrobes. Gold rings can be worn with anything and can be worn alone or in a bunch to achieve the current "stacked rings" look.

Gold rings also look expensive, don't you think? The color gold symbolises health, wealth and success, so for a bit of affordable luxury, slip one of these tiny treasures onto your finger.

Keeping up with this fashion trend doesn't have to break the bank, not with the availability of affordable costume jewels. However, if you do want the real deal, the bonus of gold is that it's also a classic, so if you do plan to spend a bit more on genuine gold rings, then know that your gold will always be fashionable.

White Shoes

White shoes are showing up everywhere these days - ladies on the red carpets and fashionistas in the blogosphere have been photographed wearing them. Personally, I love white footwear. These shoes are perfect for summer and great in winter too. I've thrown the fashion rules regarding white shoes out the window,

I don't have time for these rules when there are so many pairs of amazing white shoes waiting to be worn.

Once upon a time, white heels were associated with Smurfette, but now wearing white pumps with a little white dress is actually fashion-forward and looks amazing too!

White shoes are so versatile they can be worn with anything, and there are so many different designs that you're sure to find the perfect pair to suit your style. I wear mine with shorts, dresses, pants and jeans. What do you wear yours with?

Game of Thrones Fashion Inspiration

Game of Thrones has become my TV obsession. I don't get much time to watch TV, so any show that I make time for has to be pretty amazing. I'm riveted by the storyline, I'm intrigued by the characters, and I'm captivated by the costumes.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've held a special place for garments and accessories with medieval, renaissance and baroque splendour. The detail and extravagance in the wardrobes of the lucky ladies of these times was breathtaking.

So once a week, while watching Games of Thrones with my glass of wine, I find myself thinking about how I could style a modern outfit with the essence of these fashion eras gone by. Or perhaps I could find someone who'll make a gorgeous Daenerys Targaryen inspired creation for me. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

Style It Simple

I usually love to accessorise with shiny baubles and pretty things, but today I changed my mind. The iconic Coco Chanel once said, "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory." Well, today I looked in the mirror and removed a few accessories.

With this dress I would wear a statement necklace, maybe add a belt, maybe statement earrings and a stack of bracelets with some rings.

But today I styled it simple. Every now and then it's nice to go back to basics. So that's why I styled this classic black dress with dark sunnies, black shoes and a few jewels.

In With The Old & In With The New

Thrift shops and online second-hand stores are like gold mines for fabulous vintage clothing and accessories. Sometimes it may not be obvious at first glance, but dig a little deeper and you'll be surprised at what you find.

Sometimes it can take a little while before you discover an amazing vintage piece that'll blend with your style, but the reward of this treasure sure is worth it.

Pairing vintage with new not only gives us the opportunity to create interesting outfits, but we can do it at a fraction of the price of an entirely new outfit.

I found my Valentino Roma sheer top on ebay for only $10. I paired it with a new pair of jeans and borrowed the shoes and black tube top from my sister's wardrobe.
